The new role of Joross Gamboa is not something his female fans will be excited about. In the new episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, he plays gay that gets in love to another new actor TJ Trinidad. In preparation for the role, Joross removes body hair through waxing to provide more meaningful character.

This challenging role can prove something that he is not just yet-another-pretty-face in Philippine showbiz.

This could be a stepping-stone for this new matinee idol popularized by ABS-CBN’s Star Circle Quest. In the past, many actors has established themselves as serious actor after playing a gay character. Roderick Paulate, Dolphy, Romnick Sarmienta and others won awards or at least a nomination for an acting award.
