Nikki Gil


Nikki Gil is one of the few celebrities with equal measures of beauty, talent, and brains. She is an actress, TV host, singer, and product endorser. She also has several shows as a Myx VJ. Nikki is part of Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management arm.

Nikki first charmed audiences with her voice and smile in a Coca-Cola TV commercial. She was a voice talent for various TV and radio jingles. She then became one of the hosts of ASAP, ABS-CBN’s noontime variety show every Sunday. She also co-hosts other shows like Breakfast Surprise, ASAP Fanatic, Wowowee, and Pinoy Dream Academy Seasons 1 and 2 with Toni Gonzaga and Billy Crawford .

As a singer, Nikki is known for her performances of soundtracks of Disney movies. Together with Alicia Pan of Singapore and Vince Chong of Malaysia, Nikki recorded songs for the soundtrack of High School Musical. The album, released for Asian audiences, sold many copies and made Nikki a star outside the Philippines. Nikki was recognized for her rendition of “Breaking Free.” She also received more praise for singing the Asian version of “Gotta Go My Own Way,” a song from High School Musical 2.

In 2005, her self-titled album was released under EMI Philippines. The album boasts of radio hits “Sakayan ng Jeep,” “If I Keep My Heart Out of Sight,” “Forever Is Not As Long As It Used To Be,” and “Glowing Inside.” She also sang “Kasi Naman” in ASAP Music/Star Records’ Hotsilog album. Her second album, Hear My Heart, was released in 2008 also under EMI Philippines. In this album, Nikki showed not only her skills as a pianist but also as a composer.

In 2006, Nikki showcased her acting skills in Your Song: If I Keep My Heart Out of Sight, Komiks: Kapitan Aksiyon, and in Star Magic Presents: Love and the City. In Love and the City, Nikki played the role of Trina, a  street-smart girl who gave Sonny (Geoff Eigenmann) urban survival tips. Sonny eventually fell in love with Trina whose lifelong dream was to live in the United States. More acting opportunities came Nikki’s way with major supporting roles in TV dramas Rounin and Pangarap na Bituin. In Rounin, her character’s name was Leal, one of two lady warriors and the love interest of Geoff Eigenmann’s character. In the Sarah Geronimo -Jericho Rosales musical drama Pangarap na Bituin, Nikki played the role of Sapphire Gomez who happened to be one of Sarah’s missing sisters.
Nikki also appeared in another episode of Your Song entitled Ang Pag-ibig Kong Ito as well as in Love Spell entitled Credit Card. She is set to play the role of Mara in the 2008 drama Florinda. Her first movie credit is under Star Cinema’s 2007 box-office hit One More Chance. She portrayed the role of Helen.
Nikki was born Monica Pauline Gil on August 23, 1987. She is currently enrolled at the Ateneo de Manila University and has appeared in ads for Avon, Smart Communication, Hapee, Vaseline, Lucky Me, Penshoppe, and Disney Channel Asia. Nikki is one of three girls in Sunsilk Philippines’ Life Can’t Wait TV commercial.
