In addition, he has films in his list of accomplishments, as well as television shows, and soundtracks that he has both sung and composed. He has several platinum albums, as well as awards for his compositions and performances.

Biography
Martin Ramon Nievera was born in Manila, Philippines, on February 5, 1962. He is the son of singer Bert Nievera, whose performing career prompted Martin’s own quest for a musical career. Although Martin grew up in Hawaii, he returned to the Philippines to begin his singing career in 1982—he released his first album in June of that year.

Career
His first album, “Martin…Take One,” was his first platinum album, reaching that milestone in a mere five months. His second also hit platinum, which he recorded while beginning his appearance on film in the variety show “Penthouse Live!” He co-hosted this who with Pops Fernandez (also called the “Concert Queen), who would later become his wife. In celebration of their marriage, the show’s name was changed to “Martin and Pops Twogether.”

After his marriage to Fernandez failed, Nievera recorded music he wrote for the sole purpose of winning her back, which he called “Forever.” Even though he didn’t succeed, the music ended up in the hands of the public and rose to become the Philippines’ second-best selling music collection. The two sequels, “Forever Forever” and Return to Forever” are also about the split. Both of these albums hit platinum sales as well.

In addition to his compositions, recordings, and worldwide tours, Nievera has also developed an acting resume. Between 1986 and 2006, he has appeared or starred in eleven movies and seven television series and specials. His film credits include dramas, romance, science fiction, and action, but most have a comedic bent to them. This is somewhat of a contrast to his romantic life, which is troubled—even his star-studded appearance in Las Vegas was overshadowed by rumors that surrounded a breakup with girlfriend Katrina Ojeda. But maybe it won’t be so bad in the long run—fans could get another album out of it. {mos_ri}
