Biography
Blessed with killer looks and beautiful soothing voice, Mark Bautista still proves that he is more than that. Despite the fact that he is known as one of the most sought young male balladeers in his generation nowadays, Mark tends to try other stuffs that would let the audience shock and be surprised. Slowly, he is making a mark on doing print ad modeling and of course, acting as well.
However, before all the success he received for the past three years as a celebrity, Mark was just at his younger years, a simple, shy, “promdi” type of guy who loves joining amateur singing contests in his province in Cagayan de Oro City. Like any other singers, Mark also dreamt to be the likes of Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano , his idols when it comes to singing.
As a kid, he was not that confident enough or good enough when it comes to performing even though he was given the gift of a very pleasant voice. Actually, he was really that timid and apprehensive in front of the people. Nevertheless, his confidence gradually increased when he started joining oratorical contests in his school. Knowing how altruistic and sensitive Mark is, all his prize money he received from different oratorical contests he joined, were then given to his parents.
During that time, his father was forced to stop working because of his not so good physical condition that is why Mark thought of helping his family. Besides the prizes from the oratorical contests, he also started showing off his talent in singing by doing stints in bars and also in different community singing contests to help their financial status.
Mark Bautista was actually having stage fright whenever his singing in front of many people, so the thing he usually does when singing before the crowd was, he tends to put a coin inside his shoes because he believed that it is a source of luck and confidence as what his parents told him. Thus, it made more of his performance exceptional unlike any other contestants.
Another fulfilling opportunity knocked on Mark’s life when an audition was held in Cebu for the show, Star For a Night hosted by Regine Velasquez . That time, his only problem was his means of going there for the auditions since he didn’t have money for transport. However, his loving mother gave his fare to Cebu as a birthday gift. Fortunately, he passed the provincial audition and asked to finish the last set of auditions in Manila. Lucikily, all his hardwork, patience combined on his great talent pushed his luck until he reached the grand finals in Araneta Coliseum.
He got his 15 minutes of fame in front of thousands of people adoring and admiring him. However, he somehow disappointed his fans when he was not able to grab the title as the champion. For all he knew, his journey as a singer would stop there. But God really blessed him when Viva Entertainment offered him to do an album and other huge offers he didn’t imagine he would get. He recorded his first cd-lite album titled "Dream On" which was then released by September of 2005. Luckily, the carrier single of that cd which was the revival of a Leanne Rhymes' hit, "I Need You." had Mark his first number one hit in radio stations and in music tv channels for months competing closely to famous bands like Hale and Cueshe .
From that, sophomore album came his way for a full length album relative to his cd-lite, with another hit song, "You win the Game." And like what others say, the rest is history
As of now, Mark Bautista is regarded not only as a young singing icon but a multimedia star as well. Like his partner Sarah Geronimo , he was then given breaks in commercials and movies. He actually did his first major role as a superhero in his movie, Lastikman, which was said to be a big hit in the box office. Mark also is a mainstay host and perfomer in ASAP 07.
What struck the audience especially the ladies’ attention was when he posed revealing and sexy in a cover in one of his album which actually received a gold status. More of his music videos somewhat showed his sexy side because of showing skin and body, making more girls like him.
His first ever major concert in Aliw Theater actually was a successful one proving how good and appealing Mark is to the audience.
Now, he is not just a typical balladeer but a chuva as well.. Also a pride of the Philippines music industry.
