 Lani Misalucha
Although she never intended to become a singer, Lani Misalucha’s natural talent wouldn’t lie still long enough for her to do anything else. Her love of the art, coupled with a genetic gift, has lifted her from the ranks of the ordinary recording artist into the world of the divas. With her enormous range of tone as well as styles, she can perform everything from pop to jazz, and does so frequently, making her one of the most versatile of the Philippine stars today.
Biography
Lani Misalucha sings as if to the manor born, and indeed she was. Both her parents are opera singers, and their children all have excellent vocal talent. Because she listened to many different kinds of music growing up, she has a wide range of styles and can imitate the voices of many of today’s international pop recording artists.
Career
Her career, which spans decades, has included almost all aspects of the popular music scene. She has performed in lounges, hotels, and assorted bands. Although she has attempted to leave music behind a few times, it won’t leave her—her absence from professional music never seems to last for long. She recorded her album with the hit single “Somebody Warm Like Me” in 1996, and has had a string of albums and other hits since.
She also appeared in the lead role in the musical “Rama at Sita,” and in 2001 joined other hosts on the show “SOP.” That same year, she kicked off her first concert tour at Araneta Coliseum; the first “Lani Misaluch: The Crossover Live Tour” concert was a packed sold-out show.
Many more opportunities for concerts and tours opened up both in the Philippines and the United States, and by November of 2003 she and actor/comedian Michael V. began hosting “Celebrity Turns.” Her performing schedule remains packed, and she has added venues in San Diego, Reno, Las Vegas, and other U.S.—in fact, there is even a “Lani Misalucha Day” in San Francisco!
She has also performed in many other cities and countries worldwide—Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and Canada—as well as for heads of state and other prominent people in the Pacific islands. She has earned her place on the international stage.
