 Billy Joe Crawford
Billy Joe or Billy Joe Crawford is the new talented musician on the block. Born in Philippines on 16 March 1982, Billy’s vocal talents were spotted early, when he was singing at a bowling alley. This discovery would soon ensure that Billy Joe became a series regular on the afternoon TV show called ‘That’s Entertainment’.
From here on Billy Joe acted in a few movies and then moved to the US while still a teenager. In the US, he worked hard to establish himself as a musician, and performed in European countries such as UK and France and in Asia as well. This was the time that Billy thought he needed to change his identify and make it more western. He changed his surname from Billy Joe to Billy Crawford.
Though Billy’s music became popular in France and other parts of Continental Europe, he was unable to repeat this success in UK or US. However, his single ‘You Didn’t Expect That’ did manage to enter the UK Top 40 and peaked as high as #35. Other than that, Billy’s remix for the animated TV serial Pokémon was much appreciated.
In the year 2004, Billy’s album ‘Big City’ saw a limited release in Asia and France. But, luck wasn’t on Billy’s side and his single ‘Bright Lights’ failed to break into the Top 10 of any charts. But the second single ‘Steamy Nights’, fared much better, entering the Top 40, while being a part of seven compilation albums across Europe.
A single from ‘Candy Store’ managed to receive airplay on London radio, and this duet with Ginuwine won a place on the ‘Big City’ album. Billy featured on his first ever, online reality show ‘MSN Dance Show’ and followed it up with his third single from ‘Big City’ called ‘3 Wishes’ but this single was unfortunately cancelled by his label. Billy moved on from V2 records and decided to venture out into something new.
Soon, Billy was writing and producing songs for other artists. In fact, Britney Spears has picked up one of his songs! Out of media attention since his Big City Tour of 2005, Billy is currently working on a new album that is due for a late 2007 release.
