Korina was born Korina Baluyut Sanchez on 5 October 1964 in Hong Kong. Korina’s mother, Celia, was a singer, while her father, Ramon, was a manager in Ambassador Hotel. Her family came to Philippines and set up one of the biggest carpet companies in the country.
In the past two decades, Korina has emerged as one of the country foremost and efficient reporters, preferred hosts, and trusted anchors. Not only this, but today, Korina enjoys both popular and critical acclaim due to her multi-award winning acts and increasing role as a big ratings drawer.
Korina’s reputation as a professional who adheres to excellence in production in the industry precedes her. Her peers vouch for her accuracy in reporting and her exclusive interviews. The supports admires her clarity of thought, sound commentary, unwavering stand on current and political issues, her advocacies and causes close to her heart and her versatility in conversation.
Korina Sanchez earned the US Embassy’s Thomas Jefferson Scholarship for two years running straight, and joined ABS CBN . Around 1986, she helped reopen the ABS-CBN Channel 2 newsroom. She worked hard and proved herself as equally capable in all areas of the industry and business including but not limited to currents affairs, military coups, tragedies. After proving herself talent in front of the camera, she decided to venture and capture new grounds. As an executive producer as well as host, she produced programs such as ‘Magandang Umaga’ with then-Anchor Noli De Castro, ‘Bayan Ko Sagot Ko’, ‘Hoy Gising!’, ‘Options’, ‘Balitang K’, ‘The Newscast Pulso Aksyon Balita’ And ‘Isyu 101’.
Soon after Castro ran for office, Korina was selected as the main anchor for the station’s primetime news. During this time TV Patrol remained on top of the chart for five years while also winning the first ever Catholic Mass Media Award for Television as Best Newscast. Korina Sanchez has won many awards such as Gawad CCP para sa Telebisyon, The Community Outstanding Young Achievers (COYA) Awards etc.
Today, Korina writes, directs and hosts Rated K, the top-rating weekly primetime program, and is the Chief Correspondent for the ABS-CBN News Division.
