Biography

Speak of the word “Vanessa” and you will probably hear just one name: Vanessa Hudgens. Ask the youngsters of today, and you’ll know who she is. But in general, Vanessa can be considered as a diva in the making. With her too-many-to-mention abilities, she’s sure going to become a certified star.
Born on December 14, 1988 in Salinas California, her full name is Vanessa Anne Hudgens. She is an American actress and a popular singer. Her mom, Gina Guangco, is Filipina who hailed from Pampanga while his father, Greg Hudgens, is pure American. This amazing cultural heritage gave her the almost-Latina appearance. She also has a younger sister named Stella Hudgens, who is a gifted child like her. Vanessa was home-schooled after her seventh-grade year at the Orange County High School for the Arts.

Vanessa is more popularly known as Gabriella Montez in the 2006 Disney Channel film High School Musical. But before that, she had already appeared in a number of Hollywood films such as Thirteen and Thunderbirds. At the age of eight, she was already an all-around performer, singing in a number of musicals, which include Carousel, The Wizard of Oz, The Music Man, Cinderella, to name a few. Moreover, she started to audition and eventually appeared for several commercials. Her zestness, unique beauty, and charm gave her roles, however minor, to a variety of popular TV sitcoms like Still Standing, Quintuplets, Cover Me, among others. She also played as Comie in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and played the role of Rebecca, Drake’s girlfriend, in Drake and Josh.

In 2006 she began her music career and released her very own debut album named V. Around this time, she got her biggest break in High School Musical, where she was paired with Zac Efron, her reel- and real-life partner. So successful was the tandem and the movie that they bagged numerous awards, including Best Chemistry in 2006 Teen Choice Awards. Soon after, projects started coming in, including variety of endorsements of clothing line like Ecko and Old Navy.

For Vanessa, 2007 was both a hit and a miss. She got to shoot their second High School musical installment, which was highly anticipated all over the world. She didn’t only receive attention from her acting, but her singing career also soared higher. Furthermore, Neutrogena basically had her as their latest endorsers. However, it seems like everything she has put up has gone to nothing when naked pictures of her started to circulate the Internet. This further fueled the intrigue that she might be taken out in the movie screen debut of High School Musical. This was later rebuffed by Disney management.  Ironically, her guest appearance in Tyra Banks Show caught her saying that she will never do anything stupid as she has her moral values intact.

There’s still so much in store for Vanessa. She’s very young, and definitely, she will have more time to redeem herself. In the meantime, we better gather our friends and family and watch her enjoy her teenage years, especially once High School Musical: The Movie comes out.
