 Jasmine Trias
In 2004, a new singing talent was unveiled at the third place during the third season of American Idol. Since then, Jasmine Trias has gathered a very big fan following, and is ready to increase and broaden her fan base with the release of her self titled album ‘Jasmine Trias’ under the Universal Records.
Jasmine Soriano Trias was born on 3 November 1986 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The eldest daughter of Filipino immigrants, Jasmine represented her school in the Brown Bags to Stardom state singing contest, in 2001, and won it. She also won the Road to Fame youth talent competition in 2003.
Jasmine has done TV commercials and billboard ads for McDonald’s, Smart Telecommunications, Hapee Toothpaste, and Bench Clothing in the Philippines. ‘Jasmine Trio’, a promotional meal, was offered by McDonald’s restaurants in Philippines while Jasmine released a promotional single for Macca called ‘Love Ko To’ in 2004. Besides this, Jasmine has also done many commercials discouraging smoking, drinking, and drug use in Hawaii.
On 27 February 2005, Jasmine released a single called ‘Flying Home’. She also took part in the JCPenny, and Seventeen ‘Rock Your Prom’ Fashion Show, and performed in Springfield, Missouri and Glendale, California in March 2005.
June 2005 witnessed the release of Jasmine’s eponymous debut album in US with Clockwork Entertainment. The album has since sold 30,000 copies and has been a certified platinum album in Philippines.
This Fil-American singer has been able to blend just the right amount of pop, ballad, and R&B in this album. The single ‘Lose Control’ is a smooth R&B flavoured song, while ‘Sana Lagi’ is a Korean ballad. Another winner in the album is ‘Excuses’ that has been the #1 song on Wave 89.1 FM in Philippines. And her signature song in American Idol, ‘Inseparable’ is a wonderful ditty that leaves one mesmerized. In order to give a fillip to her professional singing career, Jasmine is planning to shift base to Los Angeles, California. She is currently dating the ‘Search for a Star in a Million’ winner Kris Lawrence as of July 2006.
