Sheena Patricia Camille Quiambao Prats was born on June 20, 1985, to Daniel and Alma. She is the second in the brood of five, and a sister to also a well-known actor cum dancer John Prats.
Despite the private lives of her parents, it seems like Camille is bound to be in show business. For one, her aunt, Mia Prats, was once a member of a popular teen variety show called That’s Entertainment and acted in a couple of films in the 1980s. So as early as three years old, she aspired for such grandeur too. Her first taste of it would have to be her participation in a particular competition of
Eat Bulaga, Little Miss Philippines, where she finished first runner-up.
Moving forward a few years later and she was seen tagging along his brother John for an audition for a soon-to-be-launched talent show. Johnny Manahan—or Mr. M, as he is fondly called by Star Magic talents—couldn’t ignore the feistiness of this kid. She was among the original members of
Ang TV. There, she expressed interest and talent in areas such as acting and dancing.
It was in 1995 when the role of Sarah Crewe landed on her lap. The movie,
Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa, was based on a popular children’s book by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Star Cinema, the film outfit behind the movie, banked on the popularity of its cartoon version and on the compatibility of the role to Camille’s character. True enough, it catapulted Camille to stardom and she became an instant household name.
Projects started pouring in, left and right. She became a part of
Oki Doki Doc and
G-Mik, a youth-oriented show. It was also that time that she was given her own loveteam in the image of Stefano Mori. She was also given a chance to work alongside big names in the industry such as
Sharon Cuneta in
Madrasta.
But Camille was growing up. She reached an awkward stage where children’s roles don’t fit her anymore but she wasn’t ready yet to move on to mature ones. Thus, she experienced her own hiatus. Upset by the gradual loss of her projects, she opted to continue her studies in Thames Business School instead. She was also ready to go to Australia to finish her college degree when offers from GMA 7 came. It proved to be a very wise decision. Camille was able to get in touch with her acting prowess in TV shows such as
Kung Mamahalin Mo Lang Ako and
Captain Barbell, where she got her first onscreen kiss from
Richard Gutierrez .
As they say, you can’t put good talent to waste. Camille Prats is indeed one woman you cannot ignore just because he’s transforming. As proof, she bagged the Outstanding Supporting Actress Award in the Second Golden Screen Awards. In the meantime, however, she’ll focus on her studies, hopefully earn a degree in the United States. She'll also be delivering her first baby this January.
